DoorLoop vs RentRedi — $199 a month vs $12

A sixteen-fold price gap usually means the two products are not really competing. Here is what each one actually includes, and the add-on that closes most of the gap.

The add-on most comparisons miss

RentRedi's $12 is a genuinely low price, and for rent collection alone it is excellent value. The thing to check before comparing it to anything is what the accounting actually is.

RentRedi's built-in Accounting Suite is expense tracking, receipt capture and bank feeds. Its real double-entry product is REI Hub, which RentRedi itself describes as a full double-entry accounting platform billed in addition to your RentRedi subscription. REI Hub is $25/mo for 1-3 units, $39 for 4-10, $59 for 11-20 and $99 for unlimited.

So the honest all-in figure for flat pricing with real books is roughly $37 to $129 a month depending on portfolio size — not $12. That is the number worth comparing.

What changes with a ledger underneath

Books included, not bolted on

A double-entry ledger is part of the product, not a second subscription. Rent, fees, deposits and expenses post to it automatically, so the books are never a separate job.

Flat, with no floor

No per-unit meter and no monthly minimum. The fourth door costs the same to administer as the first, and you are not paying for a platform sized for a management company.

Deposits treated as liabilities

A security deposit is money you hold, not money you earned. Recorded properly it stays correct through the tenancy, the deductions and the return.

Year end stops being a project

Schedule E figures, 1099s and owner statements come out of the ledger instead of an export you clean up every spring.

Which one should you actually pick

Pick RentRedi if you want the cheapest competent way to collect rent and your books are simple. $12/mo on an annual plan with unlimited units is the lowest real price in this category, and nothing here beats it on cost alone.

Pick DoorLoop if you manage property for other owners and need owner statements, maintenance workflows and the depth of a full platform. The $199 monthly floor only makes sense once you have enough units to spread it across.

Pick Rentwelly if you self-manage a handful of units and want rent collection and real double-entry books in one price, without a per-unit meter, a monthly floor, or a second accounting subscription.

FAQ

DoorLoop vs RentRedi — FAQ

What do DoorLoop and RentRedi cost?+

They are priced on opposite models. DoorLoop is per unit with a monthly minimum: One is $2.50 per unit with a $199/mo floor, Connect $4.00 per unit with a $299 floor, Multiply $5.00 per unit with a $399 floor. RentRedi is a flat rate regardless of portfolio size: $29.95/mo billed monthly, $20/mo billed semi-annually, or $12/mo billed annually, with unlimited units.

Does RentRedi include real accounting?+

Not in the base price, and this is the detail most comparisons miss. RentRedi's built-in Accounting Suite is expense tracking, receipt capture and bank feeds. Its actual double-entry product is REI Hub, which RentRedi describes as a full double-entry accounting platform billed in addition to your RentRedi subscription. REI Hub runs $25/mo for 1-3 units, $39 for 4-10, $59 for 11-20 and $99 for unlimited. So a landlord who wants flat pricing and real books is looking at roughly $37 to $129 a month, not $12.

Which one is cheaper for a small landlord?+

RentRedi, clearly, if you only need rent collection. $12/mo on an annual plan with unlimited units is the lowest published price in this category and DoorLoop cannot approach it. The comparison only gets interesting once you add real books to the requirement.

What are the rent payment fees?+

RentRedi charges $1.00 per ACH transaction and 3.1% plus $0.30 on cards, charged to the tenant by default. DoorLoop's fees are not published on its pricing page. Both are worth confirming directly before you commit.

Where does Rentwelly sit?+

Between them. Flat $39/mo for up to 20 units like RentRedi's model, with a real double-entry general ledger included rather than sold as an add-on, and none of DoorLoop's $199 monthly floor. If you want rent collection only, RentRedi is cheaper and we would say so.
